Mark & Melissa Magid () - Owners/Directors
Mark & Melissa built Black Bear Lake Day Camp in 1995. They met while working in accounting at Coopers & Lybrand in New York City. Mark grew up working in his family’s day camp in Manalapan, NJ and always loved the fun and excitement of his summers. Melissa attended day camp in Rockland County from the age of 5 years old, and also spent 5 summers at a resident camp in Connecticut - she always knew that this is how she would want to spend her life. They live in West Windsor with their 3 kids – Morgan, Jason and Lauren – all of whom have been campers since their first steps.

Ian Feibelman () - Associate Director of Parent Communication
Ian began working at Black Bear in 2010. He graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Economics and a focus on Business Management and Entrepreneurship. His love for camp comes from 25 + years spent as a camper, Counselor, and Administrator. He lives in Howell with his wife Dara.

Heidi Hersh () - Associate Director of Programming
Heidi began working at Black Bear in the summer of 2001. She worked as the Junior Camp Division Leader for 9 nine years, and now plans the Summer Programs including Special Events, Specialist’s projects, Weekly Trips and Color War. Heidi is a graduate of Upsala College and taught for 10 years at Southard Elementary School. Her daughters, Staci and Marci, worked as Group Leaders and lifeguards at BBL for five years. Even her son-in-law Brian worked as a Group Leader for two summers!

Kristina Piech () - Director of Staffing and Scheduling
Kristina has worked at Black Bear Lake since 2000 – hiring the best staff throughout the year, as well as coordinating the processing of everyone’s elective schedules during the summer. She is also a trained accreditation visitor for the American Camping Association – in addition to ensuring that Black Bear Lake is in compliance with all the standard practices and polices of the ACA, she visits different camps throughout the summer to assess whether they are adhering to ACA standards in order to receive their accreditation. Kristina is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, with a degree in Elementary Education and Psychology. Her daughter Kaylee and son Brandon have been campers since they were Cubs!

Denny Schmidt () - Maintenance and Grounds Supervisor
Denny has worked at Black Bear Lake since 2001 where he makes sure everything on our 45 acre campus is running smoothly. There is nothing Denny can’t fix or build and he takes great pride in knowing our facility is always safe, clean and well-maintained. When Denny gets time off, he enjoys deep-sea fishing. He and his wife Pauline live on the grounds of the camp with their sons Georgie and Matthew. Georgie loves being a Black Bear Lake camper, and looks forward to his baby brother attending someday!

Franne Berenberg () - Supervisor of Elective Scheduling
Franne has been at Black Bear since 2004 and handles all aspects of the camper’s elective schedules. She tries to make sure every camper gets all their first choices so they are assured a happy and fun summer! In addition, Franne has been a teacher for over 26 years in New York City. She has a degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Math Education. Franne is currently the Product Sales Chair for Region 2 for Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, and on the board of the Staten Island Reading Association. She and her husband Robert are busy with their kids Samantha, Allison and Lisa, all of whom have been campers and now work at Black Bear.

Tammy McCord () - Office Manager
Tammy is a military wife and proud mother of 4. She has over 19 years of administrative and customer service experience, working in the private sector and in state government. She is proud to be the newest member of the BBL Family. Her children are excited about being BBL Campers!
