2019 Week 8 Newsletter

Oh Hi,

Is it really possible that we’ve already reached the end of this amazing summer at Black Bear Lake? I think we all agree that we would love to have our camp fun last at least another week or two!

I think about summer all the time (it’s kind of my job). This year we have seen so many incredible things. From “Mary Poppins” to incredible Special Events, an outstanding Color War, fantastic electives and so much more! But perhaps the most incredible thing I see, every year as I travel around camp are the staff and campers who come out of their shells. Often times the young, quiet and shy kid, gains a sense of confidence through some experience here at camp, and then begins to shine and eventually become a star.

I guess the one word that sums up the summer for me is gratitude! Gratitude to the staff for all their hard work, gratitude to all my campers and their families for sharing their summers with us, gratitude to the Leadership Staff who set their sights in June on an outcome that only can be achieved through hard work and intentional effort. Personally, I can’t remember a better summer or one where at the end there was a greater outpouring of emotion and love.

On behalf of the entire Black Bear Lake Staff, I would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with your children. With the help of an amazing staff, we hope to have created a nurturing, safe, exciting and memorable summer. We wish all of our staff and campers a successful start to the school year and thank all of you for being a part of our family this summer. I will miss all of you this winter, and as the days grow shorter, keep the summer warmth in your heart and you will always have that little piece of Black Bear Lake with you to share with the world.

As the summer of 2019 and our 25th Anniversary Season comes to an emotional end, we wish the entire extended Black Bear Lake family a year filled with laughter and good health. As always, this is not goodbye, but rather until we meet again. We will see you next summer but until then… SAVE THE DATE FOR OUR BBL OCTO-BEAR FEST ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19th – DETAILS TO FOLLOW.
